There are lots and lots of sites explaining exactly how to do it, and showing videos how to do it. You certainly didn’t look, did you?

Double knitting means to knit two layers of cloth at the same time. You knit one stitch from the front then one from the back, and then the front, and then the back…. it’s really very boring, actually. It takes a long time to do this, but the effect can be very effective.

it's probably tension. use a larger hook for the foundation chain only or practice making those first chains very lose. If you are working the length rather than width it will be more noticable. When you do a small square in one type of stitch (say all single crochet or all double crochet), does every stitch look exactly the same or are some loose and others tight. If its not completely uniform keep working and practicing before mixing stitches.

Obamanations supporters are so lame that if a Catholic woman had her head covered they would freak and demand she not be included in any background pics with Barry O.! And you're right we would still be hearing about it if McCain did something equivalent! It's further proof that the media is being selective how it covers each candidate!
